Let's Get Personal
This will be my first blog about myself instead of about my books, so I hope you enjoy.
I was dumped by my boyfriend the day before I started college. Suffice it to say I was a wreck and didn't want to make any friends. I was worried about not being able to meet the right person and graduate before finding The One, but that doesn't mean I didn't try. I dated guys pretty frequently, but none of them lasted long. They would always say they needed space, or I was too good for them, or they just didn't think things were working out. Despite their flaws and mine, I always tried to make relationships work.
Of course I was that girl growing up who wanted to be treated like a princess. Not a spoiled brat that needs gifts bought and fancy dinners. Rather I enjoyed time spent together, adventures, cooking, and openness.
It wasn't until I stopped looking for The One, and settled for going on dinner dates to get to know people, have a free meal, and get to know people, that I ended up finding The One. It was unexpected, not who I thought it would be, or the type of person I thought it would be.
It wasn't love at first sight, nor was it super romantic at first. I was under the impression he thought that we were just friends because he kept calling our dates a "hang out." Later I found out that he had dated girls who got scared of the word "date." Regardless, I fell in love and could tell he was different. He didn't shy away from being vulnerable, and we laid all our baggage out on the table.
He showed me what true love looked like and how I had been so wrong with everyone before him. Not only have I always loved romance books and movies, but now I have a real life romance that is special, intimate, and grows more with each passing day.
Now with this experience, I hope to continue to write more love stories that are deep in thought, emotional, challenging, and positive. Not to hate on Hallmark, but their stories are so overrated, the tropes are overused and reused, it's too corny, and you can always guess what's going to happen. I hope with my stories I can provide more realistic romances that will keep you wanting more.
